Mat Teacher Training

About

The BASI Mat Teacher Training provides a strong and structured foundation in the principles of the Pilates method. Mat work forms the foundation of Pilates and requires insight, control and precision. During this training you will develop a deeper understanding of the repertoire and learn how to apply it safely and effectively in a variety of settings.

Dates

The next course is scheduled to start end of August 2026.

Costs

The training fee is €1750. Upon registration, you pay a €500 deposit (including €100 administration costs); the remaining amount must be paid no later than 10 working days before the start of the training. Additional costs may apply for exams, practice hours, and supplementary learning materials.

About

The BASI Mat Teacher Training provides a strong and structured foundation in the principles of the Pilates method. Mat work forms the foundation of Pilates and requires insight, control and precision. During this training you will develop a deeper understanding of the repertoire and learn how to apply it safely and effectively in a variety of settings.

The program offers a complete education in the BASI mat repertoire and its wide range of applications. For many participants this training forms the first step toward the Comprehensive Program.

Structure of the training

The curriculum is internationally standardized and identical for all BASI students worldwide. The training includes 24 contact hours, divided over six modules, covering theory, practical application and movement analysis.

Students are also expected to complete an average of four hours of self-study per week, in addition to the certification requirements.

In case of insufficient registrations, the program may be postponed or cancelled.

Extra info

There are several important requirements related to your training. To complete the program, you will need to observe classes, teach classes yourself, and maintain your own practice. For all of these components, you are welcome to do so with us as part of your training.

Comprehensive Teacher Training

The BASI Comprehensive Global Program includes both the Mat Program and a complete and in-depth training in working with all Pilates apparatus, including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ped-a-Pul, Ladder Barrel, Step Barrel and various other auxiliary apparatus.

The next course starts on 08 May 2026.

Costs

The training fee is €4750 with full payment or €4900 via a payment plan. Upon registration, you pay a €500 deposit; the remaining amount is paid before the start of the training. Additional costs may apply for exams, practice hours, and supplementary learning materials.

About

The BASI Comprehensive Global Program includes both the Mat Program and a complete and in-depth training in working with all Pilates apparatus, including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ped-a-Pul, Ladder Barrel, Step Barrel and various other auxiliary apparatus.

The program consists of twelve modules and includes 72 contact hours, focusing on theory, practical application, movement analysis and teaching methodology. In addition, students are expected to complete an average of eight hours of self-study per week, along with the required certification components.

Training to become a Pilates instructor

The Comprehensive Program goes beyond a training course and forms a strong professional foundation for a career in Pilates. It is a teacher training in which students gain in-depth knowledge of Pilates theory, the full repertoire and teaching on all apparatus.

Upon completion you will receive an internationally recognized BASI certificate, also recognized by Pilates Professionals of the Netherlands (PPN). You may also qualify to take the PMA Pilates Certification exam*.
